My name is Artemis Lynn. I go by they/she pronouns and I love country harmonica. More specifically the Terry McMillan style of country harmonica. I was introduced to his playing around 2006 and it was through probably the greatest country harp track ever created, "Ain't Goin' Down (til the Sun Comes Up)" by Garth Brooks. I didn't know who the player was on the track, but it had this very powerful sound that I just couldn't resist learning to play it for my own pleasure. I started learning in 2018, when I was 16, and have been practicing for almost 5 years (my 5 year harp anniversary will be December 28, 2022 as that's when I got my first pro grade harmonica, a C Hohner Special 20). It's been an absolute life changer for me as I met new friends along the way as well as many enemies (mainly blues players on Facebook) because I want to play like Terry McMillan and not like Charlie McCoy when it came to playing country harmonica and that I didn't like the latter. Back in July of this year, I started taking lessons with who's now a good friend of mine, Todd Parrott. And let me tell ya it's worth every penny spending time with him and learning more about the guy who inspired the both of us to play harmonica.
